The new President of the European Commission, Jean Claude Juncker, is facing calls to resign over claims he allowed major international companies to avoid billions of euro in tax in Luxembourg.

Mr Juncker, who was the Prime Minister there until last year, has been criticised by France and Germany's finance ministers.

He has avoided the media since the allegations came to light, but is expected to appear at a global economic summit in Australia this weekend.
