Vodafone boss: Scholarships and mentoring programmes needed to get women into tech

The CEO of Vodafone Ireland has said scholarships and mentoring programmes could be the answer to the shortage of women in technology careers.
Anne O’Leary was speaking at the Connecting Women in Technology conference in Dublin this morning.
The event saw more than 200 women from Ireland’s digital industry discussing how to get more Irish firms online, and how to encourage more school leavers to consider careers in tech.
Vodafone Ireland CEO Anne O’Leary said providing tech sector role models to students would go a long way towards achieving that goal.
She recommended going into schools to talk to teachers about the industry, and the roles it offers.
