Refurbishing electrical equipment 'could create 300 jobs'

A new study suggests up to 300 jobs could be created by refurbishing old electrical equipment thrown out by householders.
Research by the University of Limerick shows we recycle around 35,000 tonnes of electrical items every year.
At the moment, none of this is reused or refurbished.
A pilot project is already underway in Ballymount in Dublin to repair old white goods, creating six jobs.
It is hoped that this will rise to 20 jobs over the coming year.
The study says that a national reuse programme could be a significant growth area for the economy with a potential for up to 300 manufacturing jobs.
