Lord Mayor: Business community supports car-free days in Dublin
Dublin's Lord Mayor has said plans to make parts of the city car-free zones for one Sunday a month will help get more people into the city.
It is one of the proposals up for discussion at tonight’s final Dublin city council meeting and will allow for pop-up markets and food stalls on parts of the north and south side.
It is earmarked to start on June 20.
Lord Mayor Oisin Quinn said businesses were behind the idea.
"It increases the footfall into the city centre…We've had discussions with (the business community) and they're behind this idea," he said.
