Whiskey industry to invest €1bn in next 10 years
The Irish Whiskey industry is planning to invest more than €1bn here over the next 10 years.
The newly-formed Irish Whiskey Association said exports of the spirit are set to double to 12 million cases by the year 2020.
Some 15 new distilleries are in development from Derry to Cork and the Burren to Dublin.
Managing director of Dublin Whiskey Company which is set to open in the Liberties next year Marie Byrne said: "There's a real sense of a massive potential here...We can easily double in size by 2020 and our ambition is to double again by 2030."
