British-Irish business could double in next decade, chamber claims

The British-Irish Chamber of Commerce is confident of doubling its business base from €370bn euro over the next decade.

The group is holding a conference in Belfast today, which will discuss the importance of British-Irish relations in ensuring continued economic recovery.

Stephen Aiken, CEO of the British/Irish Chamber of Commerce, said it is an important event:

"[It's] all about brining the joint business space between Britain and Ireland together," he said.

"Our companies alone, over 250 companies, have a turnover somewhere in the region of €33bn, and we employ over 60-odd-thousand people on either side of the Irish Sea."
