Hayes: €12bn to be invested in agri-food sector

Minister for State at the Department of Agriculture, Tom Hayes, says that €12bn is to be invested in the agri-food sector in Ireland by 2020 to promote growth in the industry.

He made the comments this morning at the opening of the Charleville Agricultural show in Co Cork.

Minister Hayes says the aim of the investment is to increase the volume of food production in Ireland by a third over the next decade.

He commended farm families, saying they all have a key role to play in helping drive the growth, which he says will help contribute to economic recovery and job creation.
