French government give Peugeot guarantee

The French government has offered to guarantee €7bn of bank lending to Peugeot Citroen, as car sales continue to fall.

Shares in the company dropped sharply as it was announced the government will take a seat on the board

Last July Peugeot announced plans to cut 8,000 jobs from its factory near Paris.
