Toyota recalls 36,000 Irish vehicles
Toyota Ireland is recalling 36,000 cars here, because of a problem with the power switch in the driver's window.
The voluntary recall applies to around 9,000 Yaris cars, 10,000 Auris, 14 ,000 Corolla and 2,000 Rav 4s.
The cars all have registration plates from between 2006 and 2008.
Toyota Ireland will be writing to all owners involved in the recall to arrange to have their cars checked by their local dealer for free.
Any owners with a query can contact Toyota Ireland on 01-4190222.
In total, Toyota are recalling almost 7.5m vehicles around the world.
The Japanese car giant said today that the switch on the driver’s side did not have grease applied evenly during production, causing friction in the switch and sometimes smoke.
No crashes or injuries have been reported in connection with the problem.
