News Corp reports $1.6bn loss

News Corporation has reported a loss in its quarterly results, with the company facing ongoing legal charges over the phone-hacking scandal.

The firm’s net loss was $1.6bn for the three months to the end of June, compared with a net income of $683m in the same period last year.
