Peats set to re-open

Peats World of Electronics has announced it's to re-open two of its Dublin stores.

It comes almost three weeks after the company announced it was to cease trading, with the loss of 75 jobs.

But today, the firm, which has been in existence for 78 years, presented a petition to the High Court, for the appointment of an examiner, paving the way for the re-opening of the company’s flagship store on Parnell Street and its website, this Saturday.

The company's shop in Rathmines re-opened earlier today and 25 former staff at the company will now get their jobs back.

Chairman of WB Peat and Company Limited Ben Peat says all going well, more of its stores may also re-open in the future: "We are going to re-open our O'Connell Street store, which is the main store in our business, and our shop in Rathmines.

"There's a possibility of looking at other shops and re-opening them in the future, but nothing is certain at the moment."
