Galway Airport bosses meet bank over rescue package
Today is 'D-Day' for the financially crippled Galway Airport, as management at the facility meet with officials from the Department of Transport and Bank of Ireland.
The airport is on the brink of being put into liquidation in the coming days unless agreement can be reached on a rescue package.
Meanwhile, staff at the airport are staging a sit-in protest, over the company's refusal to pay redundancies.
More than €1m in funds was taken from the airport's accounts to reduce company loans last month.
It is understood this money had been earmarked for redundancy payments.
Spokesperson for the staff Sean Adair has said they will continue their protest until a resolution is found.
