O'Driscoll most popular among sponsors - survey

Ireland rugby star Brian O'Driscoll is the most popular choice among sponsors, according to a new survey.

In total, €120m was spent on sponsorship in Ireland last year, down 4% on the figure from 2010.

Katie Taylor, Rory McIlroy and Jonathan Sexton also ranked high on the list of preferred choices, along with Jedward and Dara O'Briain.

Managing director of Onside Sponsorship - which carried out the survey - is John Traynor:

"Rugby and GAA are the two sports in particular that continue to present opportunity. On a key metric that we use ,which is value for money, rugby and GAA clearly are the two stand-outs," he said.

"Outside of sport, the next highest most regarded categories of opportunity are broadcast sponsorships on TV and radio, and then venue naming rights."
