The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) has reached agreement with the Lynxs Cargo Group, which proposes building a new cargo facility at Shannon airport.

The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) has reached agreement with the Lynxs Cargo Group, which proposes building a new cargo facility at Shannon airport.

The agreement has been welcomed by Tourism Minister Leo Varadkar, who said the project which has significant economic potential for the Shannon region and for Ireland.

The agreement proposes the construction of new cargo warehouse facilities at Shannon Airport.

The new cargo hub will provide significantly improved facilities for Shannon’s existing cargo businesses. The Lynxs facility will include chilled, frozen and heated areas for cargo which would enable Shannon to bid for more high value, high volume freight business.

The two parties have been in negotiation on this project since 2009.

"This would benefit the airport, the entire mid-west region and the national economy," Minister Varadkar said.

“I would like to wish both parties to the venture every success in the future.”

The agreement was also welcomed by DAA Chief Executive Declan Collier and Shannon Airport Authority Chairman Brian O’Connell.
