Phone companies join forces for Africa aid initiative

Mobile phone companies in Ireland are joining forces to help millions of people affected by East Africa's worst drought in decades.

Meteor, 3, O2 and Vodafone - through the Irish Cellular Industry Association - are urging their customers to donate €5 to the cause, by texting 'HELP' to 57500.

All proceeds - after VAT of 87c - will be divided between Concern, Oxfam and Trocaire, as the operators and ComReg have waived their usual fees for the initiative.
