Irish Wi-Fi network reports 31% rise in subscribers
Bitbuzz has announced an increase of 31% in the number of registered users in the first half of 2011.
Bitbuzz, an Irish-owned Wi-Fi network operator, had a total of 466,000 registered users by the end of June 2011, a 31% growth from the 355,590 registered users at the end of December 2010.
This represents a year-on-increase of 72% in registered users.
The total number of Bitbuzz Wi-Fi hotspots across the country at the end of June 2011 was 277 up from 245 at the end of 2010.
There has been a significant growth in the total number of logins per month for Bitbuzz, which now stands at 206,605, compared with the 99,657 logins at the end of 2010.
The busiest time of day for logins on the Bitbuzz network is between 6pm and 7pm.
New business contracts announced so far in 2011 have included deals in Ireland with the KFC restaurant chain, the Lucan Spa Hotel and Clane Hospital; and in the UK Ramada Hotels, Elegant English Hotels and Kensington Rooms.
