158 new jobs for seafood-processing sector

Almost 160 new jobs are to be created over the next three years in the seafood processing sector.

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Simon Coveney will make the announcement in Co Donegal later.

It is expected the 158 jobs will be provided at various locations throughout the country.

Eighteen companies have been approved for a total grant aid of €1.7m.

In a separate development, Minister Coveney is also expected to announce a new jobs initiative for Killybegs in Co Donegal.

An expert group has been established to look at how 250 positions can be created in the area by 2014.
