Supermarket giant Tesco today said Sir Richard Broadbent will take on one of the biggest roles in UK business when he replaces David Reid as chairman in November.

The former head of transport group Arriva will step down as deputy chairman of Barclays when he takes the helm at Britain’s biggest supermarket.
