Brazil trade surplus tumbles

Officials said Brazil’s trade surplus fell 44% in the first half of this year as compared to the same time last year.

The Trade Ministry’s report said the surplus slipped to US$7.9bn.

It is Brazil’s smallest trade surplus since the first half of 2002.

Officials said that is because Brazilians are getting richer and buying more imported goods.
