Irish Wi-Fi company to expand into UK

Irish Wi-Fi service provider Bitbuzz has today announced plans to expand into the UK market.

The UK business, which will be led by newly business development manager Thomas Kamm, compete in the London Wi-Fi market by offering a premium service to hotels.

Shane Deasy, managing director, Bitbuzz, said: “We believe now is an ideal time to extend our Wi-Fi offering to the UK market.

“Although there is a lot of competition already in the market, we believe the quality of Wi-Fi in London hotels is poor and we are confident that London hotels will benefit greatly from our premium service offering.”

Another big opportunity in the London market that Bitbuzz hopes to capitalise on is the London Olympics 2012. The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has stated that he wants Wi-Fi throughout London by 2012, and Bitbuzz believe this will help fuel demand for their Wi-Fi service.

“Due to the size of London there is no reason why 30-50% of our network could not be in the London area within the next three years,” said Deasy.

“We are looking forward to working with our new business development manager to secure Bitbuzz’s presence in the UK market, and as the number of customers in London grows we plan to hire additional sales and technical resources.”
