Call for Regulator to investigate EBS
There has been a call today for the Financial Regulator to investigate EBS after it emerged the society is charging different rates of interest to customers who wish to fix their mortgage.
The Consumer Association of Ireland says the Department of Finance should also look into the practice which comes at a time when billions of taxpayer's money is being pumped into banks.
According to today's Irish Independent newspaper, customers wishing to fix for three years are offered a rate of between 4.5% and 4.75%.
