Bord Gáis buys wind energy firm for €500m

Bord Gáis have bought the West Cork-based SWS Natural Resources, one of the largest wind generators in Ireland, for more than €500m.

The sale of SWS Natural Resources has been the subject of a competitive bid process over recent months.

Bord Gáis Chairman, Rose Hynes said: "This is a significant step in the pursuit of our dual-fuel, all-island strategy."

Bord Gáis Chief Executive, John Mullins said: "Over the next five years Bord Gáis will invest almost €700m in the construction of the wind projects and in the process create 250 sustainable jobs."
