Ryan concerned about planned INN closure
Communications Minister Eamon Ryan has expressed concern about the planned closure of the independent agency that supplies news to local radio stations around the country.
Independent Network News is due to close at the end of this month due to financial difficulties.
The National Union of Journalists is holding a protest at the company's offices this lunchtime to show support for the more than 20 full and part-time journalists who will lose their jobs as a result of the decision.
Asked about the matter in Dublin today, Mr Ryan said the closure of INN would be a huge loss for the country and the agency must be replaced by a similarly independent service.
