Credit card providers urged to provide limit alert

The Consumers' Association of Ireland is calling on credit card providers to alert customers when they are going over their credit-card limit to help people avoid over-limit charges.

The Consumers' Association of Ireland is calling on credit card providers to alert customers when they are going over their credit-card limit to help people avoid over-limit charges.

Chief executive of the association Dermott Jewell said most of the providers are US-based and will in any case have to implement the alert system for their US customers.
