House prices in England and Wales jumped by 1.7% during July - the biggest increase for five years, figures showed today.

House prices in England and Wales jumped by 1.7% during July - the biggest increase for five years, figures showed today.

The third consecutive monthly price rise left the average property costing £155,885 (€176,801), according to the Land Registry.
