EastJet celebrates 25 million passengers out of Belfast
The 25 millionth passenger carried by easyJet since it opened up in Belfast will today get a present from the airline.
The budget airline has calculated the person will be one of the passengers booked on its 14.50 flight to Luton – coincidentally the destination of its first flight out of Belfast International almost 11 years ago.
Carly Brear, easyJet UK commercial manager said: “easyJet was the first airline to bring low-fares travel to Northern Ireland...I would like to say a big thank you to the travelling public."
She added: “easyJet has made a substantial contribution to tourism and the Northern Ireland economy, including bringing millions of visitors to the region.”
The airline now flies to 19 domestic and European destinations from Belfast - carrying around 11,000 people a day on up to 43 flights.
Responding to holidaymaker demand, it has announced extra flights to Faro and Malaga next summer.
Passenger 25,000,000 will get a bottle of Champagne and two tickets to any easyJet destination of their choice, said the airline.
