AIG posts quarterly profit

Troubled US insurer American International Group (AIG) has posted its first quarterly profit since before the recession began in late 2007.

The bailed-out firm said it made $1.82bn (€1.28bn) in the three months to the end of June, compared to a loss of $5.4bn (€3.8bn) recorded in the same period last year.
