An Irish company has won a $30m (€13.6m) contract to supply its solar power products to New Zealand.

An Irish company has won a $30m (€13.6m) contract to supply its solar power products to New Zealand.

Surface Power Solar was founded in 2003 and is backed by Údarás na Gaeltachta and Enterprise Ireland.

Last month the Co Mayo firm signed a €20m contract to distribute its water heating panels in Ireland.

According to Surface Power founder John Quinn: "New Zealand Solar Distribution have approached the market in a professional way seeking out the best technologies, backed up with training options and support.

"We look forward to building a relationship that will help drive growth and jobs for both companies in 2009 and beyond."
