Family bakery strikes big dough Tesco deal
A family-run bakery struck a big dough deal today to supply muffins to a major supermarket chain.
Brogan’s Bakery, of Glenamaddy, Co Galway, expects to create 15 jobs after landing the €14m contract with Tesco.
The supermarket giant has asked the bakers to make four new types of muffin for its 2,000 stores across the UK from next week.
Brogan’s already supplies 80 million muffins every year to Tesco as well as fresh bread to its stores in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.
Tony Keohane, chief executive officer of Tesco Ireland, said he was delighted to extend its relationship with the bakery.
“The quality and uniqueness of the Brogan’s offering is very much reflected in the huge demand in the UK for its muffins,” he said.
Brogan’s already employs 80 people at its bakery.
