Tesco to invest €168m in Clubcard loyalty scheme
Supermarket Tesco today said it was investing £150m (€168m) in the biggest change to its Clubcard loyalty scheme since it launched almost 15 years ago.
From Monday, customers will be able to double the value of their Clubcard vouchers in Tesco stores and online when they buy products including baby goods, wine and clothing.
Previously customers could spend the vouchers at face value or they could trade them in for a range of deals with the retailer’s partners such as restaurants and theme parks.
The supermarket card scheme currently has 15 million members, but Tesco said it hoped the £150m (€168m) investment would attract at least one million more customers.
Richard Brasher, Tesco commercial and marketing director, said: “Now with customers going to greater lengths to search out the best bargains it is even more important for Tesco to say thank you when they choose to shop with us.
“But from next week we want to say an even bigger thank you by allowing customers to double the value of the vouchers we send them.”
