30 parties interested in buying SRT plant in Dublin

SIPTU has held talks with the IDA today to discuss the future of the SR Technics operation at Dublin Airport.

The Swiss-owned aircraft maintenance company plans to close the facility in the coming weeks with the loss of more than 1,100 jobs.

SIPTU officials were informed by the IDA today that major players in the aviation sector are among up to 30 parties expressing an interest in buying the facility.

The unions are expected to be brought into the process next week when a shortlist is drawn up following submission of business plans and financial projections.

Meanwhile, the Tánaiste and Enterprise Minister, Mary Coughlan, is due to meet SR Technics management this afternoon to discuss the situation.

SIPTU is also due to hold talks with the company on problems regarding the pension fund and the redundancy package on offer to workers.
