New drink brand deals for Barry & Fitzwilliam
Barry & Fitzwilliam has sealed new direct distribution contracts with Beam Global Spirits & Wine, Bols Amsterdam, The Edrington Group, Rémy Cointreau Group and SPI Group for a 23 globally recognised drinks brands.
Michael Barry, managing director at Barry & Fitzwilliam, the leading independent distributor of international wines, spirits and beer brands, stated that, with a turnover value of approximately €18m annually — the overall turnover at the firm topped €83m in 2008 — the contracts represented a solid vote of confidence in their sales and marketing abilities.
The contracts were negotiated following re-structuring at the former pan-European distributors Maxxium Worldwide, opening up the opportunity for Barry & Fitzwilliam to deal directly with the brand owners.
The firm will revert to its original name, Barry & Fitzwilliam, from April 6 next.
The company, which employs 80 people, is headquartered at a 4,500 square metre bonded warehousing facility at Airport Road, Cork, with an administration centre in Dublin.
With a portfolio of more than 50 European and international quality brands of wines, spirits and beers, including Corona Extra, McGuigan Wines, Mont Gras and several others, the new contracts negotiated are for the following: Rémy Martin Cointreau, Piper Heidsieck, Mount Gay, Rum Charles Heidsieck, Jim Beam Bourbon, Teachers, Harveys, Cockburns, Courvoisier, Makers Mark Sauza, Tequila Sourz, Aftershock Laphroaig, Canadian Club, The Famous Grouse, The Macallan Highland, Stolichnaya Vodka and Bols Liqueurs.
