British banking giant Barclays posted a 14% fall in annual profits today after an "extraordinarily challenging" period for the financial sector.

British banking giant Barclays posted a 14% fall in annual profits today after an "extraordinarily challenging" period for the financial sector.

The 2008 haul of £6.08bn (€6.94bn) came in results brought forward by the bank to soothe market fears over its balance sheet strength.
