FTSE up slightly

The FTSE 100 Index edged into positive territory today after a nervous session for London's leading shares.

With nerves frayed after yesterday's 2.6% fall, the Footsie hovered close to its opening mark for much of the session, eventually closing 7.4 points ahead at 5875.4.
