The ISEQ-index of Irish shares has struggled against all odds this morning and managed to gain an impressive 135 points at 6396.56 in the face of panic across the global markets.

The ISEQ-index of Irish shares has struggled against all odds this morning and managed to gain an impressive 135 points at 6396.56 in the face of panic across the global markets.

The banks surged ahead with healthy gains across the board. IL&P led the way with a 43c jump to €10.63. AIB climbed 35c to €14.50, Anglo gained 27c at €8.92 while Bank of Ireland increased by 25c on its share price at €9.20.
