Branson launches Virgin Mobile directory enquiries

Richard Branson today launched Virgin Mobile’s new directory enquiries line in the UK.

A 20p (27c) donation from each call to the 118 918 service will be donated to two UK youth charities.

Virgin Mobile will not make any money from the directory enquiries line.

Richard said: “Whenever anyone uses 118 918 Virgin Mobile gives 20p to two great charities to make sure that these kids have a good Christmas.”

The 20p donation to the charities Foyer and Kids Company is a flat rate per call.

In addition, Virgin Mobile will donate 1p to the two charities for every text message sent by Virgin Mobile customers during December.

The network’s new directory enquiries service will be provided by a firm called Spiritel Plc.
