Bord na Móna has today announced the appointment of Mr Gabriel D’Arcy as managing director.

Bord na Móna has today announced the appointment of Mr Gabriel D’Arcy as managing director.

Mr D’Arcy, 48, joins the company from Kerry Group plc, where he held the position of commercial director, Kerry Ingredients Europe.

He originally joined the group in 1989 and has held senior positions in Kerry’s dairy, ingredients and bakery divisions.

Prior to joining Kerry Group, D’Arcy spent 12 years as an army officer in the Defence Forces, retiring as a captain. During his service, he had two tours of duty with United Nations forces in Lebanon.

Commenting on Mr D’Arcy’s appointment, the chairman of Bord na Móna, Mr Fergus McArdle, said: "The board is delighted to welcome Gabriel to the company.

"He will bring a wealth of managerial experience to Bord na Móna and I am confident he will successfully lead the company and help it to deliver on its growth and development strategy in the months and years to come."
