Shop owners criticised over lack of healthy foods
Convenience store owners are being criticised for failing to stock their shelves with healthy foods.
The criticism comes from a new campaign group called Healthy Food for All, which has been set up by the Combat Poverty Agency, the Society of St Vincent de Paul and Crosscare.
It says most low-income families shop in local convenience stores, but these outlets have a limited stock of healthy foods like fresh fruit and vegetables.
The organisation says lack of access to these foods is contributing to nutrition problems among certain disadvantaged groups.
