US electronics firm may create 80 new jobs in Ennis

Around 80 new jobs could be on the way for Ennis in Co Clare following the decision by a US electronics firm to remain in the town.

Microsemi, which manufactures semi-conductors for military and aerospace customers, had announced plans to phase out its operations in the town.

However, it says it has reversed the decision as a result of improved market conditions.

Just over 100 existing jobs at the facility are now safe and additional jobs could be created over the next 12 months.
