HMV reassures on current trading in UK

Ailing music and book retailer HMV today offered reassurance that there was no further bad news to come in its full year results, despite continuing to face “extremely tough” trading conditions.

HMV brushed aside further like-for-like sales falls in the four months to the end of April, saying it was confident of matching profit expectations for the year to last week, which have been drastically cut following two profit warnings since the start of 2007.
