HSA publishes new code of practice on workplace bullying

The Health and Safety Authority has published a new code of practice on how workers and employers should tackle bullying in the workplace.

The Health and Safety Authority has published a new code of practice on how workers and employers should tackle bullying in the workplace.

A recent study found that nearly half of all Irish companies do not have procedures in place to deal with the problem.

The new code, which comes into force on May 1, includes a system whereby the majority of workplace disputes can be solved informally.

Companies will also be required to keep records of all complaints made by employees.

Labour Affairs Minister Tony Kileen says he believes the measures will help to tackle workplace bullying and reduce the number of cases being taken to court.
