Job losses feared at Independent Newspapers

Staff at Independent Newspapers are meeting today to discuss the company's plans to contract out editorial production work.

There are fears that up to thirty four jobs could be lost through voluntary redundancies.

The job losses are expected to be mostly in sub-editing and page layout.

Today's union discussions follow a meeting yesterday between staff and management, at which a new plan was laid out for workers at the Evening Herald, Herald AM, the Irish Independent and the Sunday Independent.
