The Irish Islands Federation wants the EU Single Farm Payment to be increased by 50% for farmers working on the 33 islands around the Irish coast.

The organisation says farming on the islands is helping to sustain their 3,000-strong population, but high costs are putting local farmers at a disadvantage compared to their counterparts on the mainland.
