Transport companies boost ISEQ
The ISEQ surged up 134.43 points to 9090.83 today.
Irish Continental made the day’s biggest gain, up €1.65 (12.7%) to €14.60, after saying its volumes of car traffic were better than expected today.
Ryanair gained 25c (3.6%) to €9.95, while Aer Lingus closed up 1c at €2.75. At an EGM today, Ryanair shareholders approved its proposed acquisition of Aer Lingus.
Irish Life and Permanent closed up 97c (4.9%) at €20.77, following an upbeat trading statement.
Allied Irish Bank was the day’s busiest share, closing up 30c (1.4%) at €21.95.
FBD was up 80c (1.9%) at €43.48.
ISEQ ETF shares closed up 21c (1.2%) at €18.23.
Bank of Ireland gained 10c to €16.75, while Anglo Irish Bank finished the day up 8c at €15.40.
Business support services company DCC closed up 90c (4%) at €25.25.
Technology group Icon made a gain of 20c to €27.60.
Kingspan closed up 55c (2.9%) at €19.30. CRH gained 29c to €29.75.
Glassmaker South Wharf was unchanged at €6.80. The majority of the firm’s shareholders today backed the plan to sell its site in Dublin’s Ringsend.
