Dow Jones Industrial close above 12,000

The Dow Jones industrial average closed above 12,000 today for the first time as Wall Street managed to hold on to gains despite concerns about the strength of the US economy.

One day after the index of 30 blue chip stocks made its first foray past 12,000, the Dow closed at 12,011.73.
