Currys owner DSG to create 2,000 UK jobs
The owner of Currys electrical stores pledged to create 2,000 jobs today with the launch of a new service providing expert support to IT users.
DSG International, which also owns the online brand Dixons, said TechGuys will provide homes and small businesses with round-the-clock help installing, fixing and upgrading computer and audio-visual systems.
Customers who need help will be able to call the firm’s expanded call centre in Nottingham, England as well as drop off faulty computer gear at TechGuys shops, which will be based on busy commuter routes.
The company said it is geared up to deal with 16,000 customer call-outs each week and engineers will be able to access a vault of two million spare parts.
John Clare, DSG chief executive, said: “Technology is the circuitry of modern-day life and has become as important a utility as water, electricity and gas.
“Domestic technical support rapidly will become as commonplace – if not more so – as visits from plumbers and electricians, which is why we are transforming our customer service proposition.”
