Councils urged to ensure living wage for contract workers

Trade unionists are calling on local authorities to ensure all the private companies they hire pay a minimum wage of €10-an-hour.

The move is part of a "Living Wage Campaign" being launched today by the Labour Party and officials from SIPTU, MANDATE and the ATGWU.

The first move in the campaign is a motion urging Dublin City Council to ensure all employees working on contract are paid at least €10-an-hour.
