Greater investment in regional airports is needed to boost tourism in the west of the country, according to the company behind an annual survey of hotels across the country.

The latest survey by HBC accountants found that the majority of visitors to Ireland fly into Dublin and find it difficult to travel elsewhere.

It also found that the average hotel in Dublin makes twice as much profit as those in the west of the country.
