Farmers to return to partnership talks after new proposals
The Irish Farmer's Association (IFA) has said new proposals on the use of nitrates in farming could lead to a breakthrough in partnership talks.
The IFA pulled out of discussions on a new national partnership agreement after an EU directive threatened to limit the use of nitrates.
However, changes have now been made to the directive, prompting fresh talks on the issue between farmers and Minister for the Environment Dick Roche.
IFA President Padraig Walshe has said that they will meet next Wednesday to discuss whether or not to return to partnership talks.
