Final legal go-ahead for P&O takeover

The £3.9bn (€5.7bn) takeover of shipping giant P&O by Dubai Ports World (DPW) was given final legal clearance today when the Court of Appeal in London rejected a renewed bid to stop it going ahead.

Three judges refused a plea by P&O stockholder and joint venture partner Eller & Co for permission to challenge a High Court judge’s decision last week to sanction a scheme of arrangement giving effect to the deal.
